NONNO IN NEW YORK

Nonno Pasquale Verdicchio made a number of trips from Napoli to N.Y. He and Nonna Assunta Maraniello ran the restaurant that they had opened in the Vomero, on via Bernini. Their apartment in via Bernini 25 had a balcony that overlooked the steps going down to the restaurant's cantina. Today the Verdicchio trattoria is Sica's old Tavern...upgraded, updated but still pretty much the same as far as layout.
The phots above are from 1909 when Nonno Pasquale was in N.Y. during that period.
